St. KITTS – The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is currently investigating a shooting incident in Sandy Point that resulted in the death of one person and gunshot injuries to another. The shooting occurred at 10:30pm on Saturday, March 5.

Initial investigations revealed that the victims were shot in the Farm Site area by an unknown assailant(s). One died at the scene and the other was taken to the J.N. France General Hospital for treatment.

Investigators from the VCU, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit (FSU) have canvassed the scene for evidence. One person is currently in custody and is assisting with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Commissioner of Police Ian M. Queeley has echoed an appeal for assistance from the public. “We urge anyone who may have witnessed or have knowledge about this incident last night to come forward with any information they may have. What you may have seen or perceived with your other senses, may be critical to our investigators bringing closure to this crime and justice for the families. Persons with information that can assist the police in this crime or any other crime can call any Police Station in the Federation or Crime Stoppers, our confidential hotline, at 1-800-8477 to share information,” stressed Commissioner Queeley.
