PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – One female was injured during an accident on the Belair Road Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:30.

According to eye witness reports, a silver Hyundai Getz car was traveling in the direction of the Belair Hotel and around midway she decided to make a a U-turn.

A mini van which was also traveling in the same direction and overtaking, slammed into the car making contact with the left-front of the vehicle.

The van in an effort to evade the car which was suddenly making a left turn, skidded off to the left side of the road.

The other female occupant of the car was not injured neither was the driver of the mini van. The female driver of the car was taken to the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) by ambulance while the police blocked the road to conduct their investigation.

Wednesday accident also resulted in a severe traffic buildup into Philipsburg.
