St. Maarten Development Movement (SDM) officially registered as political party

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — On Thursday November 19th 2015 the St. Maarten Development Movement (SDM) was the first “new” political party to successfully complete the registration process.  This approval means that SDM is officially registered as a political party and thus able to proceed with the other requirements to contest the next elections. SDM believes that this registration is an essential first step in contributing to a positive change in St. Maarten’s disturbing political scene, offering a new generation of motivated candidates who are ready to push for a better St. Maarten for us all.

The reason to establish the movement is purely and simply  a love for St. Maarten and its people. SDM could no longer sit idly on the sidelines and witness the political decline. SDM will therefore take action by championing the interest of the people to lead St. Maarten in the right direction.

Action is one of SDM’s keywords. Being aware of the current issues, SDM will not continue the practice of rallying up people to merely showcase obvious issues.   SDM promotes an innovative mindset that will lead a process of conscious action and openness to continuous learning and trying, that will in turn lead to the improvement of our people’s overall quality of life. Monitoring and evaluating  progress is hereby essential in order to set examples of what are  attainable and sustainable results.

Government plays a pivotal role in ensuring a healthy, social and economically stable country, in which SDM promotes the protection of our culture and environment.  SDM believes everyone in St. Maarten needs to get a fair shot at a decent, full filling and economically secured future. Equality and fairness is key. This is only possible if everyone is able to invest their fair share to St. Maarten through hard work and active participation in our community, while adhering to the same set of rules. To support this, SDM also promotes empowerment through education and reform in our country.

When we are all empowered to take up our roles and responsibilities in our love for country, we will get the ball rolling and progress. Change is not feasible if we don’t push the ball hard enough or if we push from different angles. It will then remain stagnant. People need to connect and empower each other and move in the same direction.

We would like to thank you all so far in believing in SDM. Any person that would like to become a member or has any questions please contact SDM by email: mailussdm@gmail.com or phone: +1721-5201002 / -5205286.
