POINT BLANCHE, Sint Maarten — The Nature Foundation were contacted by the harbour and the Maritime Affairs department requesting us to investigate what appeared to be wastewater being pumped out of a cruise ship at the cruise facilities Saturday morning.

It was soon established that due to faulty equipment the wastewater tank overflowed and a significant amount wastewater was entered into the sea.

We made an official report and complaint regarding the incident but due to the “unavailability” of the public prosecutor, the Coast Guard issued a warning and the vessel left without a fine.
